Programs for Holocaust
Survivors

The Claims Conference

Jewish Family Services provides specialized programs and services for Jewish survivors of the Holocaust. Nazi victims are assisted via funds provided to the agency from The Claims Conference, the single largest organization in the world working to secure compensation, restitution and assistance for survivors. Additionally, generous donors to the agency and to the Jewish Community Foundation help us accomplish our work. The overarching goal of the program is to ease the lives of survivors as they age, and particularly to sustain community living and keep individuals out of institutional care for as long as possible.

Assistance is based on need and is available at no charge. JFS services are intended to assist survivors of low to moderate income and assets.

Programs include a homecare component, which helps pay for minimal services to help survivors remain independent. This assistance can be in the form of personal care, house cleaning, or driving. Also available are various forms of emergency funding to help with such things as home repairs and medical and dental expenses.

If you would like further information, please contact Joan Margolis at 236-1927 or jmargolis@jfshartford.org.

Please Note: The Emergency Assistance Program for Nazi Victims has been supported by funds from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (The Claims Conference) at the direction of the United States District Court supervising the lawsuit In Re: Holocaust Victim Assets Litigation (Swiss Banks).
